Speech and Language & Preschool Coordinator - Mrs. Jane Edmiston
I have been working at East Kingston Elementary School for 25 years. The students and staff are amazing to work with. I majored in Communication Disorders at The University of New Hampshire. I got my Bachelors Degree there. They have a clinic to train new SLPs. I worked with children with articulation difficulties. Then I got my Master's Degree at Northeastern University. While I was there I worked in a city hospital to help adult stroke patients and an Elementary school in Cambridge to help children with language delays. Since I graduated I have worked at Learning Skills Academy, Seacoast Learning Collaborative and Exeter Hospital. This work included helping children with Learning Disabilities, various syndromes, and voice and fluency disorders.
Then in 1992 I started at East Kingston Elementary School and have enjoyed every year here. I began an after-school soccer program. I did this for 5 years. It was a blast but then I switched to help coach my 5 year old son's team. (He now is 24!). I like this career because every day is different. I get to see children improve their oral and written expression, social skills and early reading skills.
When I am not at school you may see me at Exeter High Football games, Exeter High School Basketball games, and EHS track meets. During summer break my husband and I like to travel or go to a local beach. We have traveled to the Galapagos Islands, Ireland, sailed the Caribbean Islands and have been to 35 states together.
