Physical Education News and Notes

January has us finishing up our fitnessgram testing with the reports heading home with report cards.  If you have any questions on our testing or how to help improve your child’s performance please check the PE web site in the coming days or get in touch with me here at school.  In class we will be focusing in on activities that will help us improve upon tests where a majority of the students did not make the Healthy Fitness Zone. My hope for these activities is to get more students in the Healthy Fitness zone.

In the month of February we start in on our Jump Rope for Heart program. This year on the 13th of February I have scheduled the Newmarket Jump Rope Demonstration team to visit and put on a school wide assembly to help get us excited about our Jump Rope for Heart event.  This year’s event will be on February 19th.  Our Jump Rope for Heart event is our way to help the American Heart Association raise money for the prevent and education to fight the number one cause of death in America, heart disease.  If you are able to help out at our event please drop me a line here at the school.  We will be having grades come down to the gym to jump for 45 minutes at a time (with breaks.) and running through all of the grades by the end of the day.  Please look for two things from me the first week of February.  First, a letter explaining our Jump Rope for Heart event second, a pledge form packet from the American Heart Association. I will also be putting more information on the PE web page.  Boy I better get that thing updated fast!!

Well that’s all the news from the multipurpose room.  Stay warm, have fun and go Pats!!!!
