My name is Sarah Oppenheimer.  I teach first grade at the East Kingston Elementary School.  It’s a good friendly place to teach.  First grade keeps you busy and smiling. You can't get bored here. There is always something to do.  It’s exciting to watch first graders become stronger readers and mathematicians, writers and kinder more thoughtful friends with a little teaching and some just right practice. Its fun to see student’s understanding of their world, and science concepts grow. My special skills are fixing stuck zippers, reading books with lots of expression, mending hurt feelings and finding the just right thing that helps kids move forward. Everyday you find your students can do something they couldn’t do the day before. I find myself smiling and laughing a lot. Learning is an adventure here.  When I'm not at school, I'm sometimes at home thinking about what I'm going to do when I get to school. Sometimes I paint or go for walks or dance.  I have two wonderful children who grew up and moved to New York City, an adventurous husband who still listens to my school stories and laughs and two Maine coon cats. I hold an undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and a Masters from Northern Illinois University as well as additional course work from the University of New Hampshire. I love what I do.
