Principal - Steve Tullar
There is a saying, if you are lucky enough to live by the sea, you are lucky enough. In 2016, we moved to Rye,NH and we live by the sea and I began work in East Kingston. My wife, Sharyn, and our five year old black lab, Lyla love living next to the ocean. We have three young adult children - Dianna, Noel, and Bryant. It is a joy to watch them navigate adult life with all that it has to offer! I definitely feel lucky!
I feel fortunate to be principal of East Kingston Elementary School. I enjoy coming to work everyday and find joy in being an elementary school principal. Previously, I was principal of Westminster Community Schools in Westminster, VT., serving eleven years in that role. It was a great learning experience.
I came to the world of education as a second career. I worked as a dairy farmer and a carpenter before returning to complete my college degree. In 1988, I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in Sociology, followed by a Masters of Education in Elementary Ed. Later, I went back and got a second masters, this one in Administration and Supervision. I first taught at Stratham Memorial School, then the Oyster River Cooperative School District - at both Oyster River Elementary School and Moharimet Elementary School. I taught grades three to five during those years including several years as a teacher of multiage classrooms.. I also was the assistant principal in Auburn, NH for one year. In 2002, I joined the faculty at Keene State College, working with students who were interested in becoming elementary school teachers . It was at KSC that I became aware of the principalship in Westminster. It was an easy decision for me to make the move back to elementary school. And I am glad I did!
