Special Education Coordinator - Mrs Phillips
I have been a special education teacher at East Kingston Elementary since 1999. I earned my Master’s Degree in Moderate Special Needs at Lesley College and began teaching in special ed as an 8th grade case manager in Newton, NH. My teaching certifications are in General Special Education and Learning Disabilities Specialist.
My undergraduate degree is in Health and Physical Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA. I began my teaching career as a physical education teacher at Lawrence High School in 1979.
My role as a special ed teacher at EKES is working with 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. I provide in class support, one to one instruction and small group instruction to my students. I work closely with the classroom teachers to support and help students meet the academic demands to be successful in the classroom. I am certified in the Wilson Language Program, and work with several students in this intensive reading program. Working with kids is my passion.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, skiing, cooking and spending time with my family. I also like spending time at the beach in the summer months with friends.
