School Profile

East Kingston Elementary School is a rural school of 175 students in grades K – 5. Visitors to our school always notice one thing—it is a warm and inviting place. There is a positive ‘feel’ throughout our building. Teachers and students are open and friendly—it is a happy place for kids!

East Kingston Elementary School is evolving. We ‘think big’ and consistently seek opportunities to look beyond the walls of the school for ways to grow and become better. We recognize that our 175 children have individual needs as learners and as human beings. Our mission is to meet their needs and empower them to lead successful lives in their future.

We begin by creating a climate in which our students feel valued and cared about. We encourage our students to be thinkers and problem solvers. We guide them to be good citizens by teaching them about responsibility, communication, integrity, courage and resiliency.

We are committed to instilling a love of learning and the desire to do quality work. Understanding that each child is talented in unique ways allows us to tap into his/her strengths. In essence, we educate the whole child. We are proud to have support of a strong parent group along with positive backing from the community. For the past eight years, we were recipients of New Hampshire’s Blue Ribbon School Award for Volunteerism. Our teaching staff is currently undergoing training in the Intel Teach to the Future program, learning how to use technology and integrate it successfully into the classroom environment to best enhance our curriculum.

We serve as a site for the University of New Hampshire’s education department. We continually provide internships and work with students who are considering education as a career. We are pleased to be part of the UNH School/University Collaborative.

East Kingston Elementary School is part of SAU #16, which includes Exeter, Stratham, Brentwood, Newfields, and Kensington. Our students leave our small elementary school and attend middle school at the Cooperative Middle School in Stratham, then on to the Exeter High School. As an SAU we are involved in ongoing initiatives in Standards Based Education and developing curriculum K – 12. Completed are Math, Science, Art and Music and Literacy. Work is ongoing in Social Studies and Technology.
